THE OPPORTUNITY
Betterview’s Machine Vision team maintains an ever-expanding suite of computer vision models to detect property conditions and identify risk factors using aerial imagery. A model is only as good as the data it’s trained on, and that’s why we’re looking for a reliable and organized Project Manager who is passionate about Machine Learning and Data Science to manage our pipeline of projects to curate and expand our library of training data.

The Data Annotation Project Manager will run Betterview’s data labeling operations that enable us to continually expand and enrich our training datasets. This includes managing the project pipeline with data annotation vendor(s), managing a Data Annotation Analyst, and together executing data labeling projects.

For example, if Betterview were looking for more imagery containing solar panels on a roof, the Data Annotation team would support these efforts by creating a dataset in which every image in the dataset contains a clean example of solar panels. Typically this will entail reviewing/cleaning the data, preparing it for outside labeling, and leveraging Betterview’s custom-built ETL processes to ingest the labels.

  • Manage and execute data labeling projects to support Betterview’s machine vision priorities

  • Cultivate deep knowledge of Betterview’s data and leverage it to mine suitable candidates for data labeling at a large scale
  • Establish methods and processes, both with vendors as well as internally, to ensure data quality and consistency
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in Betterview’s data and, together with machine vision colleagues, work to implement solutions
  • Create and maintain internal reports to track quality and size of training datasets over time
  • Evaluate external data labeling vendors for speed, accuracy and accessibility
  • Set expectations for project timelines with partners and stakeholders and communicate progress towards those goals
  • Update tasks in Jira and keep good notes

  • Analyst’s level of Python and/or SQL is a plus
